Once your dedicated server order is received, we begin
work on setting up your new server. We start by actually
assembling your server to the specifications you ordered
(i.e. the processor, RAM memory, hard drive size, etc).
Once the server has been built, we load it with all the
necessary software.... including CPanel and WebHost
Manager.
Once the server has been tested and found to be operating
normally, we configure it to your specifications. This
involves configuring CPanel and WebHost Manager,
installing IP addresses, setting up your main account, and
creating the zone files for your custom nameservers. We
also configure your backup hard drive (if ordered) so that
backups from WHM go directly to it.
If you are an existing reseller who is simply upgrading to
a dedicated server, we will then copy all your existing
accounts over to your new server. All existing accounts'
usernames, passwords, databases, email addresses, etc,
etc, will be retained in the copy process.
Once all the above is done (typically within 1 to 2
business days of us receiving your order), we'll send you
a welcome email that will contain all the
information you'll need to get started (root login,
username, password, etc). The following steps detail
exactly what you should do once you receive your welcome
email.
|
| STEP
1 - Register your "Private Label" Nameserver IPs |
|
This should be done immediately.
If you are upgrading from a reseller plan and will be
using the same custom nameservers you used before, you
will have to "update" your nameserver
registrations with the new IP addresses we would have
assigned them (given in your welcome email). You cannot
keep the same IP addresses you had in your reseller plan.
Whether you are upgrading or not.... if you plan on using
new custom nameservers, then you will have to
"register" them with their new IP addresses
(that we'll give you in your welcome email) with your
registrar.
If you registered your domain name with us (the
domain name used for your custom nameservers), then you can ignore this step; we will take care of registering your nameserver IPs for you. Otherwise, you'll have to go to your registrar, and do it through them. Once the nameserver IPs are registered, it will take
24-72 hours for them to propagate (just like
domain names), after which time you'll be able to update domain name registrations with your new
nameservers.
NOTE: At this time you can also update your main account's DNS settings so that it points to your
private nameservers.... but it is not necessary to do so. Your domain name will work the same either with our nameservers, or your new custom
nameservers.

3 - Copying Accounts from your Reseller Plan |
|
If you upgraded from a reseller plan and chose to have
us copy your accounts over to your new server for you, you
will want to check to make sure those accounts copied
properly. Take a quick look in those accounts just to make
sure. If you find that an account did not copy over
properly, let us know and we'll copy it over again.
We will keep your old reseller plan intact on our servers
until such time as you are satisfied that all your
accounts have been successfully copied to your new server.

Congratulations!
After completing the above steps, you will have setup your custom nameservers, setup your main account, and created your web hosting packages that you are going to sell in your new web hosting business. Now all you have to do is actually setup your online hosting business, and start selling!
